4. SOUNDBITE (English) Leticia Mariano Zenevich, Human Rights Officer and UN Volunteer, United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS):
“This year we have a very important theme. It’s volunteering for our common future and nothing represents it better than, on one side, the pressure of climate change and, second, the power of change through planting trees. So, we’ve partnered with Red Cross and we are delivering in the whole South Sudan, 50,000 trees that will be planted together. They are fruit trees so they’re also going to help food security and give more back to the communities we serve.”
5. Various shots, distributing saplings
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Andrew Murima, Procurement Assistant and UN Volunteer, United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS):
“I think it’s a significant day for all UN Volunteers within the mission, and even internationally, because this is a day, we get to participate in something other than what we do for the mission on a regular basis whereby we are here to promote and raise awareness on the activities of United Nations Volunteers and other NGOs and agencies alike. So, it’s a very significant day that we all need to participate in.”
7. Various shots, local artist singing

SOUNDBITE (English) Leticia Mariano Zenevich, Human Rights Officer and UN Volunteer, United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS):

Tackling climate change is a central issue for the United Nations, and tree-planting makes a symbolic yet significant contribution to this goal.
