Security Council
(Resumed) Conflict-related food insecurity: Security Council, 10045th meeting
Conflict is the main driver of hunger and starvation in conflict-affected countries. Armed conflicts disrupt food production and distribution, displace populations and destroy livelihoods. They also undermine coping mechanisms, including the distribution of humanitarian assistance, increasing community vulnerability to hunger and malnutrition. Conversely, food insecurity may increase tensions and violence in communities.
Letter dated 28 October 2025 from the Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General (S/2025/688)
The meeting will be a high-level open debate, presided over by the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, with the participation of all States Members of the United Nations.
(This is the third and final session.)
